Poland's biggest sports event of the year is now just a step away. Since the first of july, Wrocław will have the pleasure of hosting three acrobatics competitions with the participation of best athletes from all around the globe: The Trampoline World Cup 2010, The 6. World Age Group Competitions, and last but not least, The 22. Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships 2010. For these three events combined, our city will be visited by delegations from 36 countries with 1133 members (including 740 athletes).
Trampoline World Cup & Wrocław Cup 2010 (03-04.07.2010)
The event that was held in Wrocław in 2008, and one we hope is going to become a regular in our city's acrobatics calendar. 161 participants from 16 world federations (including 93 athletes) will attend. This year's programme includes two competitions: Individual Trampoline, and Synchronic Trampoline.
6. World Age Group Competitions (09-12.07.2010)
The event that is in fact considered the unofficial Junior World Championships (as there is no official equivalent) will gather 446 athletes from 32 countries participating in two age groups: 11-16 years and 12-19 years. The „12-19” category is considered to be a direct soon-to-be senior proving ground, attracting the best juniors in the world. The „11-16” category was created for those less advanced that have yet to become the best. The delegations will be accompanied by 187 officials, together forming a group of 633 participants.
Athletes divided into two age groups will participate in the following competitions: mixed pairs (14 pairs from „11-16” and 22 pairs from „12-19” group), girls' pairs (26 and 23 respectively), girls' groups (28 and 32), boys' pairs (9 and 15), boys' groups (4 and 8).
Every team is required during the qualifications to present two mandatory routines: static and dynamic. In the finals, teams from the „12-19” group will present themselves in a mixed routine, while teams from the „11-16” group will be free to present a routine of their choice.
22. Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships 2010 (15-18.07.2010)
The biggest sports event of the year 2010 in Poland, spanning four days, will gather 201 athletes and 138 officials from 25 countries. Such a record participation surprised even the International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG), as the last Championships (Glasgow 2008) attracted 159 competitors (which also was a record at the time). This peak number of participants will be joined by the highest number of media representatives and journalists that applied for the accreditation.
Athletes will participate in the following competitions: mixed pairs (22 pairs), women's pairs (11 pairs), women's groups (19 teams), men's pairs (15 pairs), men's groups (12 teams).
Each team will be required to present itself in three qualification sessions in mandatory routines: static, dynamic, and mixed. In the final session teams will compete with their mixed routines.
Titbit of news
Over 100 volunteers will help organize all three events.
The biggest attraction and surprise that the organizers have in store for the spectators is the grand show of Canadian Cirque du Soleil artistic troupe (self-described as a "dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment") that will be a part of the official Opening Ceremony of the 22. World Championships. It is going to be their debut in Poland, and a must-see for everyone as tickets for Cirque's shows are usually sold out half a year in advance.
