How do you quickly cut yourself off from everyday life and the real world? Put on Hällas’ latest album - or even better, catch them live on October 3rd at Niebo in Warsaw and the following day at Klub Kwadrat in Kraków. Opening this journey into the unknown will be New Zealand’s Earth Tongue.
Ever since their debut album, Sweden’s Hällas have carved out a unique place in contemporary rock as a band capable of extracting the essence of ’70s and ’80s prog rock, hard rock, and heavy metal, then filtering it through their own vivid imagination. Despite all the experimentation, they’ve never lost their knack for memorable songwriting - something perhaps best showcased by their fan-favorite track “Star Rider.”
This year, the band began another chapter of their cosmic journey with the independently released fourth album in their catalog, “Panorama.” The record features the twenty-minute celestial voyage “Above the Continuum,” alongside instant standouts like “Face of an Angel” and “The Emissary.” Fairytale-like atmosphere, a touch of melancholy, and a sense of traveling through time and space - all of it can be found in the music of the Jönköping quintet. Anyone drawn to retro sounds will be pulled into Hällas’ world in no time.
Hällas will return to Poland alongside New Zealand heavy psych-rock duo Earth Tongue. The band has three albums to their name, with the latest one, “Dungeon Vision,” released this February via In The Red Records.
