Valhalla Calling! Týr will set sail at the end of the year on a drakkar alongside Twilight Force, Dragonland and Vanaheim. All four bands will arrive with new albums and perform in Poland on December 16 and 17 - first at Hype Park in Kraków and then at Proxima in Warsaw.
The biggest metal band to ever come out of the Faroe Islands? That would naturally be Týr, who have spent nearly three decades conquering stages around the world with their uplifting blend of power metal and folk metal. The Faroese outfit’s music will quickly transport you into a world of Norse mythology and Vikings. Named after the Norse god of war, the band has released nine studio albums to date, the latest of which, “Battle Ballads”, came out two years ago. Expect to hear brand-new songs from their upcoming album at the December shows!
If a band describes its style as “adventure metal”, you can be sure there won’t be a dull moment at their shows. Sweden’s Twilight Force are renowned for their triumphant melodies and elaborate arrangements, while their live performances transport listeners to a magical realm of heroic tales known as the Twilight Kingdom.
Dragonland were formed in 2001 and quickly left their mark on the resurgent power metal scene with their first two albums, the debut “The Battle of the Ivory Plains” and its follow-up “Holy War”. The Gothenburg-based group weaves influences from film scores, classical music, Egyptology and Viking culture into its songwriting, all of which perfectly complement the fantasy world they have created.
Opening the shows will be Dutch outfit Vanaheim, who have spent more than a decade telling tales rooted in folklore. Their conceptual storytelling is wrapped in epic folk metal built on death- and pagan-metal riffs, infectious groove and Dutch-language lyrics. Their brand-new album, “Roede voor de Borst”, is set for release on September 4.
