Preface
The development of technology has no doubt made life easier for all of us. One of the achievements of modernity is that standing in line at the ticket office is a thing of the past now, because today you can buy a ticket for almost any event online and receive it in any form - digital (option for those who value convenience) or paper (particularly for collectors).
The technological leap, and especially the development of social networks, also brings certain risks - in the case of the ticket market, we are talking primarily about the so-called black secondary market whose unaware participants quite often fall prey to fraudsters and ticket touts. In our daily work we have to deal with such cases, and unfortunately most often we are unable to help the victims and the culprit gets away with the scam. In short, you, our dear customer, lose your money, waste your time and get stressed out for no reason, and very often end up not being able to attend the event.
We have prepared the following guide for anyone who buys tickets online and is not quite sure if their purchasing activity is 100% safe.
10 tips
on how to buy tickets safely
Be faster than others - it's easier than you think!
For many events, buying a ticket is not a problem at all, you just need to act early enough. Are you dreaming about Dua Lipa or Dawid Podsiadło in concert? Follow your favorite artists on social media so you don't miss valuable information about newly announced concerts. Yes, we know that not everyone is online 24 hours a day, so we might have the perfect solution for you.
Visit Eventim.pl where you can subscribe to TicketAlarm - a special mailing list relating to a particular artist, event or festival. When you are a subscriber, we guarantee that you will be the first one to know about your favorite artist’s upcoming concert. You can sign up for TicketAlarm on the dedicated artist page, such as here: eventim.pl/en/artist/metallica/
Remember, knowledge is power - if you find out early about a highly anticipated concert tour, you won't have to worry about ticket availability. If an event has a sold-out status, there is an option on Eventim.pl to sign up for the Waiting list, than you will receive an email when an additional date or pool of tickets becomes available.
Additional tip - join a fan club, as those very often have a guaranteed presale or a dedicated pool of tickets for the members. It is also worth visiting fansale.pl - as resale offers may appear there, and we as its operator guarantee the security of the transaction, another distributor will not give you such an opportunity.
Be well informed
Every purchase should be preceded by proper research. The artist's website, the organizer's website, the official Facebook event, the venue's website - these are all places where you can find verified and reliable information on where and how to safely buy your tickets.
Read the regulations of the event
The rules and regulations for each event let you know about the additional conditions that apply to ticket sales. Very often, tickets for concerts of top artists are personalized - which means that each ticket bears the name of the person who is entitled to enter the venue. Even if you buy such a ticket from someone, it will still have the previous owner's details on it and you probably won't be admitted to the event. Don't believe anyone who tells you that personalized data can be easily changed or won't be checked upon entry. Be smarter and consult the regulations of the event to avoid unpleasant surprises like that.
Be careful with GOOGLE
Google supports the music industry's fight against unauthorized ticket resale, for example by blocking certain ads and providing additional certification to any advertiser offering to sell tickets. Despite this, sites that specialize in resale are often found among Google search results. Remember! The safest source of information on where you can get your ticket is the sites and places mentioned in pt. 2 above.
You don't really know the people from Facebook
Buying a ticket from strangers you meet on Facebook, Instagram or any other social network is a very bad idea from the start. You have no guarantee that you will get a ticket, but you are almost guaranteed to get scammed.
Don't ever buy print-at-home tickets (in PDF format)
It doesn't matter if it's online or just outside the venue. In 9 out of 10 cases, the same ticket has been resold to several people, it's no problem to print/send it several times. As a result, only one person will enter with this ticket - the one who came first.
Buying a traditional ticket is also risky. His reseller may have previously asked the point of sale for a duplicate (for example, lying that the ticket was lost). In this case, the original ticket is invalidated and a new ticket with a new barcode is issued in its place.
Avoid websites that resell tickets
Buying a ticket through StubHub or Viagogo has never helped anyone in any way. Seriously, no one (facebook.com/watch/?v=2034015049997263). In addition, those sites sell tickets at prices several times higher than normal, which is illegal.
Don't support ticket touts
You may not know it, but selling tickets at overpriced is offense in Poland. What's more, it is a health-promoting practice for the entire market, only the ticket touts gets rich. If you want to buy a ticket from someone, agree to the original price ... or lower ;).
Don't be a tout
Life has its ways, we know. If you can't attend an event yourself, it's a shame to let the ticket go to waste. Remember, however, that it’s always best to just donate the ticket to someone you know. Yes, of course you can also resell it, but do so at the original purchase price. Act like a fan and not a tout!
At Eventim.pl with each purchase you can get ticket insurance which protects you in case of random events: eventim.pl/ubezpieczenie
Report scammers
If the worst happens and you get scammed, don't stay quiet about it. You can report the situation to the police. Remember, this is how you help other fans and simply get justice.
