A deadly hat-trick in Warsaw. Three bands that have had a huge impact on the landscape of deathcore and brutal death metal in the 21st century are joining forces for a co-headline tour. Carnifex, Despised Icon and Suffocation will play a joint show on November 17th at Proxima in Warsaw, with Gutrectomy joining them.
Active since 2005, Carnifex have nine albums to their name, with “Necromanteum”, released three years ago, currently closing out their discography. Over two decades, the San Diego band have earned their place as one of the genre’s most important acts, and their Warsaw show will show you exactly why their sonic blows will shatter every bone in your body.
Canadian deathcore pioneers Despised Icon returned late last year with their first full-length album in six years. Released via Nuclear Blast, “Shadow Work” delivers the band’s signature blend of extreme death metal and hardcore, a combination that hits hardest in a live setting.
Suffocation’s 1991 debut album, “Effigy of the Forgotten”, was a milestone for the entire genre, combining uncompromising brutality with an unparalleled level of technical skill and helping give rise to what is now known as brutal death metal. Tracks such as “Liege of Inveracity” and “Infecting the Crypts” remain blueprints for hundreds of younger bands to this day, while Suffocation’s influence can be heard everywhere from brutal death metal and slam to modern deathcore. Their latest album to date, “Hymns from the Apocrypha” (2023), proves that the band can still deliver dense, relentless intensity without falling into a rut.
The evening will be opened by Gutrectomy, who combine slam death metal, deathcore and beatdown hardcore in the most brutal way possible. Over the course of 15 years, the band from southern Germany have released three albums. Their latest record, “Slam Is Not a Phase, Mom”, came out in May this year.
