Before we say a final goodbye to the summer, we’ll get one last taste of it through the soothing music of City of the Sun. Warsaw will become the city of sun on September 29th at VooDoo, with Kindred Sūn as support.
Although City of the Sun hail from the crowded streets of New York, you wouldn’t know it from their music. Their sound is often labelled indie rock, but it draws heavily on Latin folk and even world music. The result is intimate, almost cinematic, transporting listeners to a world of desert winds, summer evenings in the city and Mediterranean summers. Their latest album, “Under the Moon”, was released in April and produced by Phil Ek, known for his work with artists including Fleet Foxes and Father John Misty.
Kindred Sūn are an indie rock trio. Their name, meaning “kindred sun”, refers to the idea of music that accompanies, understands and embraces you. Their songs are filled with space, calm and a longing for simplicity. It’s music that never demands your attention, but stays with you for longer.
