Dent May will bring his bittersweet songs to Warsaw’s BARdzo Bardzo on April 23.
Originally from Mississippi, Dent May has been based in Los Angeles for more than a decade. He first gained wider recognition with his debut album, “The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele”, released in 2009 via Paw Tracks, the label founded by Animal Collective.
Since then, he has released six more albums, consistently developing his distinctive, melodic songwriting rooted in indie pop, psychedelic pop, and classic American songwriting. He has also collaborated with Eyedress, with their joint track “Something About You” earning a platinum certification.
His latest album, “The Big One”, released on August 14 via Carpark Records, marks another shift in his approach to music. This time, May stepped away from working on recordings alone and invited a group of musician friends into the studio, embracing spontaneity and improvisation. The result is an album filled with warm melodies and bittersweet melancholy, proving that his love for classic pop songwriting is still going strong.
