One of the most popular funk bands in the world is returning to Poland for two concerts! In September, Snarky Puppy will play in Warsaw and Katowice as part of their European tour promoting their album Somni, released in November.
Snarky Puppy is a kind of collective consisting of as many as 20 regularly changing members. At its core, the band's work contains elements of both black and white American musical culture with various accents from around the world.
“Over the years, our soundscape has expanded significantly,” says band leader Michael League. “When the band started, we were more jazz, intelligent and music-oriented. When we took the stage in Dallas, we became more groovy, more emotional, in a sense deeper. We focused more on conveying a clear message that was understandable to the listener, without unnecessary simplifications,” he adds.
The evolution in their musical creativity means that each new album is born out of a new vision and direction. In January 2025, the band collaborated again with the Metropole Orkest, resulting in a recording session and the album Somni, released in November 2025.The material was recorded over three nights in January in the Dutch city of Utrecht.
“So far, this is the most ambitious project we've done... and also one of the most efficiently recorded,” says Michael League, adding that it is very encouraging to see how, despite the passing of years, Snarky Puppy's music continues to be very well received by audiences. “Our rule is that nothing can sound repetitive; the music must give the impression that it is going somewhere,” explains League. So where is Snarky Puppy going? The musicians don't know the answer to that question, but they are sure that it is an exciting future, which includes two concerts in Poland in September.
