kanadyjska grupa muzyczna wykonująca w początkowym okresie działalności thrash metal, a następnie metal progresywny. Zespół był jedną z najbardziej wpływowych grup w metalowym undergroundzie lat 80. Powstał w Quebec w 1982 roku. Założycielami byli Michael „Away” Langevin (perkusja) i Denis „Piggy” D’Amour (gitara elektryczna). Voivod był jedną z pierwszych metalowych kanadyjskich grup, która stała się znana poza granicami swojego kraju[2]. Muzykę formacji charakteryzowały oryginalne brzmienie gitar, teksty poruszały tematy futorologiczne, częstym wątkiem było przejęcie władzy nad światem przez maszyny].
