An amazing street art experience portraying the most enigmatic street artist of his time opened at the "Muzeum Banksy" on December 14th 2023 in Krakow's Kazimierz, at Berka Joselewicza 21, in a most peculiar setting.
More than 150 pieces by the most enigmatic modern artist may be found in the post-industrial spaces of Marcin Jarra's Plated, Silver and Metal Products Factory, which dates back to 1886 and spans more than a thousand square metres.
Listed below are some of the cities where Banksy's graffiti have been spotted: London, Bristol, Lowestoft, Paris, Calais, New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Naples, Venice, Borodyanka, Gostomel, Irpin, Kiev, Bethlehem, and so on. Without leaving Kraków, art lovers may enjoy a plethora of Banksy's earlier works—many of which have since vanished due to theft, vandalism, disassembly, sale,... — along with thorough descriptions, sound tracks, and films about the artist.
In the heart of Paris, Brussels, Barcelona, and Prague, the Krakow exhibition's curators staged comparable events that merged art and theatre. Over a million people have stopped by to see them. The show in Paris became a permanent Banksy Museum due to its enormous success. The high number of visitors and positive reviews suggest it will be similar in other cities as well. Workshops for schools and groups, curator visits, and other educational events pertaining to street art regularly take place alongside the exhibition.
Hazis Vardar is the founder of the Banksy Museum. From his start in the mid-1990s with Brussels' "Comic'Art" (in 1994) to his purchase of Paris's illustrious "Le Palace" (in 2008) and several other theatrical venues thereafter, Hazis has been a theatre runner and artist manager. The works of Banksy and other visual artists piqued Hazis' interest in 2009. In order to host an exhibition of his works, he chose to open a gallery in the middle of Paris, next to Galeries Lafayette, in September 2018. The result is an unforgettable experience, unlike anything seen at regular exhibitions. With an original intention to end after just six months, "The World of Banksy" was an exceptional undertaking that straddled the line between the visual arts and the performing arts. A permanent museum in Paris, appropriately named the "Banksy Museum," was established as a result of the exhibition's immense popular interest and favourable evaluations from critics.
The Albin Michel publishing company commissioned Hazis Vardar to compile a catalogue raisonné of Banksy's artwork in 2022. Hazis agreed to the terms, provided that 100% of the copyright would be donated to associations supported by Banksy himself. The album was published worldwide on November 22, 2023, including English and French versions. In the spring of 2024, it will be presented in Polish.
